Hi to everybody...Sky Premiere is showing 'Die Hard 4' this week, and, if you haven't seen it, it's a damned good adventure...Bruce Willis and Justin Long team up to beat Gabriel, played by Timothy Oliphant. It's all action and chaos and just a great ride...I've seen all the Die Hards now and this one I think is the best...mind you, I enjoyed them all...and am a fan of Bruce Willis in any case...
Catch it if you can if you haven't already seen it...great big hugs to one and all...

Oh dear , here we go disagreeing about movies again , but , saw it at the cinema last year and was very disappointed . . but , on tv , with lesser expectations it's probably quite watchable at least ;
I was tempted to try to get to see the new x-files film at a cinema , but as most reviewers give it only one or two stars I decided not to bother .
With hugs and all good wishes , ~ Martin .

I'm going to wait until X files film comes on TV..the reviewer on BBC News said that it was just like another long episode and not worth going to the cinema for...and you seem to like the horror and serial killer genre which I don't enjoy at all, but it's all just a matter of taste so no need to feel that you should agree with mine...HLOL..GBHs...

Oh no...not my cup of tea at all. Action films make me feel sleepy.

HLOL...have you noticed all the women loved it and all the men didn't...wonder what that tells us? Maybe women love the survivor, while men get bored watching them...

I did not enjoy the theatrical version of the film (PG-13 rated in the US, 15 in the UK).
I did like the unrated DVD version (known as the "Ultimate Action" version in the UK and still bizarrely rated 15).
It had the profanity you associate with Detective McClane and a little more violence. IE Bullet hits etc. Additional hand to hand combat scenes.
Thought this was a worthy sequel very much in the idiom of the first film.
And of course there were songs by Credence!

Fox made the film with a lower rating in mind. To attract a larger audience and multiple purchasse they then expanded the action sequences for the unrated version. CGI blood and bullet hits were added and some of the fights were extended.
There were also dialogue changes. Not only was profanity added but some of the wry one liners were altered.
After taking down the helicopter with the car, McClane states in the theatrical release that he had done this as he'd run out of bullets.
Inn the unrated version he states how cars kill hundreds of thousands of people each year so a few more won't hurt.
Fox did the same to the first Alien Vs predator film. PG-13 rated theatrical print. Extended unrated DVD with added CGi blood.

How annoying!! How do you find these things out?

Well there are numerous websites and forums that collate these sort of details. Two of the best are as follows:
http://www.melonfarmers.co.uk/ (as anti-censorship site)
http://www.dvdcompare.net./ (a comprehensive comparison site of difference between DVD regions)
I also regularly check the BBFC's website as it gives very accurate details about running times and multiple versions.
Finally, being a manic film fan I frequently watch multiple versions of films and will often pick up on differences myself.

Thanks for this inf, xusia...I didn't realise some of the films we see on the big screen are so censored...I find that very irritating for the sake of making it accessible to younger viewers...would be nice to have some films for adults...I enjoy the Japanese film makers and Korean and find their films far better than Hollywood's...On the whole, I much prefer World Cinema to the majority of films on general release...except things like Hellboy 2...LOL...which I'm waiting for impatiently...thought it was going to be released this week but our local cinemas are showing The X Files instead...had the preview on today, but no following full showing yet...hmmm...GBHs...
