I couldn't sleep last night and was waiting for some quiet deck time, not to happen, so I hit the pay per view button and watched "The Eye."
It starts with the blind concert violinist who is blind and waiting for a corneal transplant. Once this has passed she begins to see terrifying visions and has to try and figure out why.
This movie had the capacity to make me jump and wonder what would happen next and it was better than most scary films based on a Japanese spooky story. The acting was ok and it was pretty much what you could expect of a movie of this caliber. It could have been a bit more but it was fine.
What it did that I didn't like was give a very negative and terrifying vision of death and it's messengers. I think in a culture that deals so poorly with death as it is, we didn't need a reinforcement that death is scary and something evil comes to get you.
That of course is my thing and this was a scary movie not meant to be more. If you don't mind a lack of development of characters and you just want to jump and go boo, this movie will deliver.
